Nothing but thumbs up for Mr Guthrie!

"About a week ago we had the pleasure of Mr Guthrie servicing our 60 year old + piano. This piano has seen more moves than Liberance. Mr Guthrie handled the tuning like a pro and treated the old girl with great respect. At the conclusion of the tuning Mr. Guthrie treated us to a short Rag Time tune and cleaned the keys at no charge. Nothing but thumbs up for Mr Guthrie!"

Turn-Key Pianos, the piano service provider of Southwest Virginia, as well as The Palouse of Idaho/Washington, was founded by Josiah Guthrie, CPT (certified piano technician) with the mission of providing high-quality piano service. Whether your piano needs a routine tuning or a unique repair, we're here to help keep it in top condition.

Our Services

Price: $185

A standard tuning package that includes diagnosis, tuning, and minor repairs.

Diagnosis

A piano diagnosis service identifies issues affecting your instrument’s performance and condition. We evaluate tuning stability, mechanical functionality, and overall wear and tear, providing a report of any necessary repairs or maintenance. A diagnosis ensures your piano remains in peak condition and helps prevent minor problems from escalating into costly repairs.

Tuning

A tuning service restores your instrument to its optimal pitch and sound quality. For both upright and grand pianos, this involves adjusting the tension of each string to bring it to the correct pitch, typically A440. It ensures that the piano's overall tone is balanced and harmonious, addressing issues like unison string discrepancies and uneven tuning across octaves. Regular tuning not only enhances the sound but also prevents long-term damage to the piano's internal structure, ensuring its playability and longevity.

Price: $150

A piano cleaning service ensures your instrument stays in excellent condition, both visually and mechanically.

For upright pianos, the service typically includes cleaning the case, keys, and pedals, as well as dusting and vacuuming the interior components, such as the action, strings, and soundboard. For grand pianos, additional care is given to the lid, music desk, and exposed inner components. The service removes dust, debris, and grime, preserving the piano’s aesthetic appeal and preventing damage to its delicate parts. Regular cleaning enhances performance and prolongs the life of your piano.

Our technicians are prepared to fix a variety of piano-related issues. Recommended repairs will be quoted during a tuning visit.

Price: Grand: $500 Upright: $400

A piano regulation service restores the precision and responsiveness of your instrument’s action. For both upright and grand pianos, this involves adjusting the intricate mechanical components, such as key height, hammer alignment, and damper timing, to ensure consistent touch and tone. The process improves playability, allowing for greater dynamic control and expression. Regular regulation keeps the piano in top playing condition and is essential for addressing the effects of wear, environmental changes, or heavy use.
